Gallery wall guide

Printavelle gallery inspiration
A little colour, a common thread, a wall that feels like you.

Start with one print you love, then build around it.

1. Choose a thread

Repeat a colour, a subject or a visual style to connect the pieces.

2. Mix the scale

Pair a larger print with smaller works, or choose equal sizes for a quieter composition.

3. Find your spacing

Lay everything out on the floor and try a consistent gap of about 5–8 cm. Adjust to suit the wall and frame sizes.

4. Try before you hang

Use paper templates to check the arrangement at eye level before making holes.

THE PRINTAVELLE FIELD GUIDE

Build a gallery wall that feels collected

A gallery wall works best when its pieces share a little visual language. That might be a repeated colour, a subject you enjoy or a similar contrast level. Mixing photography and illustration can feel cohesive when one of these details connects them.

Choose an anchor

Start with the piece you most want to look at. Place it centrally for a balanced arrangement or slightly to one side for a looser composition. Add the other prints around it rather than trying to fill every gap at once.

Repeat one detail

Carry a colour or frame finish through more than one print. Keep some variation in scale or subject so the wall still has personality. If the arrangement feels busy, remove a piece and compare the result.

Rehearse before hanging

Lay the pieces on the floor, photograph the arrangement and compare alternatives. Transfer the outlines to paper on the wall. A gap around 5–8 cm is a useful starting point, then adjust for your frames and available space. Use fixings suitable for the wall and the finished frame weight.

Should the bottom of every frame line up?

It can, but it does not have to. A shared centre line, top edge or outer rectangle can give different sizes a sense of order. Choose one organising line first and see how the arrangement feels from the room’s main viewing position.

Room layouts and dimensions below are styling examples. Check the exact sizes, frame options and inclusions on the product you choose.
