Black & white

Black and white posters make contrast, texture and composition easier to see. A photograph with deep shadows has a different presence from a delicate drawing on a pale background, even though both use a restrained palette.

When combining monochrome prints, vary the subject while balancing light and dark areas. Give a detailed image a quieter neighbour. A shared frame finish can connect the arrangement, while one colourful print can become a deliberate accent rather than competing with every piece.
